Each Student will be given a Sponsor Sheet/Permission Slip at the PACES Kick-off Pep Rally in early April. Their mission will be to obtain as many pledges from family and friends as possible. The sponsor may pledge a certain amount per lap or a fixed amount.
How does the Walkathon work?
On Sunday, April 20th starting at 11:00 AM, the student accompanied by a parent or guardian, will go to Bishop Shanahan High School Stadium. At Registration, they will turn in their signed Sponsor Sheet/Permission Slip by a parent or guardian. In exchange, they will receive a PACES Walkathon T-Shirt and a Lap Card. Starting at Noon, the students will walk as many laps as they can. Every time the student completes the 1/4 mile lap around the track, their Lap Card will be marked. Parents and family members may walk along with the students.
When the student is done walking, he or she will go back to Registration with their Lap Card. The number of laps will be recorded. The student's job for the coming days will be to collect the funds promised from the sponsors. All of the money should be brought to the school by Monday, May 5th.
Any money collected beforehand may be brought to the Walkathon and turned in at Registration.
